Dewar’s World of Whisky at the Aberfeldy Distillery

Dewar’s World of Whisky at the Aberfeldy Distillery

Not only is world famous whisky produced at the Aberfeldy distillery, but it also plays host to Dewar’s flagship visitor centre. Dewar’s ‘World of Whisky’ has won numerous awards and offers an attraction full of high-tech features, which can be enjoyed by both the Scotch whisky enthusiast and general visitor. Interactive displays, handheld audio guides, films and memorabilia provide a truly unique view into the development of whisky and the Dewar brand itself.

All age groups are welcome to visit the centre as there is entertainment available for families with young children. The tour starts with a short film offering some background on the Dewar family and how they turned a single distillery into a Global whisky brand. You can then proceed to explore the mock-up blending room, test your nose to the different aromas of various whiskies and attempt blending your own whisky digitally, receiving feedback on how it would taste. As well as the previously mentioned interactive areas, you can take a more traditional tour of the Aberfeldy distillery itself, viewing the mash tuns, stills and warehouses. The basic tour includes a sample of Aberfeldy single malt, or if you’re driving you can take a free miniature to taste later.

A unique feature in the grounds of the Aberfeldy distillery is an old stream train that was used for the transportation of whisky on the railway that runs from Perth to Inverness. The location of the visitors centre is within the Aberfeldy distillery, just east of the town of Aberfeldy, and is a great day out for all whisky ‘novices’ or ‘experts’.
