In light of the success of The Macallan Double Cask 12 Years Old which was introduced in 2016, the Scotch whiskey brand presents two new additions to the collection: The Macallan Double Cask 15 and 18 Years Old.

Since 2018, The Macallan has been manufacturing whiskies at its £140 million distillery, The Macallan Estate on Speyside. Casks filled with sherry from Europe and America are shipped to the distillery, where they undergo years of ageing before the best spirits are selected and combined to create the Double Cask line.

With a golden butterscotch tone, The Double Cask 15 Years Old is characterised by flavours of sweet raisins, wood spice and vanilla, giving the liquid a velvety texture. The Double Cask 18 Years Old, on the other hand, has a rich amber honey hue, with the aroma of ginger, toffee and spices such as cloves and nutmeg. These flavour profiles are due to the use of casks from Europe, which gives the finished product a touch of spice, and America, which contributes subtly sweet aromas of vanilla.

“Occasionally, my whisky tasting sessions begin as early as 10am and The Macallan Double Cask range is my first choice to begin with because of its perfect balance of flavours. I also enjoy indulging The Macallan Double Cask 18 Years Old with my cravings for dark chocolate and coffee.”

— Jeremy Lee, The Macallan Brand Ambassador

In a specially recorded video, The Macallan brand ambassador Jeremy Lee shares his personal experiences with The Double Cask 15 and 18 Years Old Watch The Macallan Whisky Bench Experience: Double Cask Journey from Acorn to Glass, preferably with your own bottle of The Double Cask range.

Available since October 2020, The Double Cask 15 Years Old is priced at RM540* while the 18 Years Old is RM1,120*. *Inclusive of GST

Lee recommends savouring The Double Cask range over an ice block, which will slowly break down the flavours of the whisky as it melts. As the fall season is near, Lee also suggests incorporating the Double Cask Range in an apple and butter-based drink that’s reminiscent of apple pie.
