Luxury Scotch single malt whisky distillery The Dalmore, as we’ve profiled in the past, typically has expressions that tend towards higher price points for their relevant ages. Whiskies from here are typically highly sought after by collectors, especially the rarer ones. A recent case in point is its new The Dalmore Rare & Aged collection.

The Dalmore Rare & Aged Scotch collection, according to those behind it, consists of three expressions that are older in age and up there in price. These bottlings include The Dalmore 35, 40 and 45 Year age statement whiskies. It is said by the distillery that “each expression, composed of the distillery’s most exceptional casks, has been handcrafted by Master Distiller Richard Paterson — a legend with over 50 years in the whisky industry.”

As is typical with more luxury oriented whiskies such as these, the packaging is done up fancy. In the case of these three single malts, “the artisans at prestigious French crystal house Baccarat have crafted bespoke crystal decanters, adorned with a solid silver stag, created by silversmiths Hamilton & Inches, holder of The Royal Warrant.”

You’ll find some more limited details on each below, including some official tasting notes and bottle prices. It should be noted that this collection in total prices at nearly $30,000 and is currently available for a limited-edition U.S. run.

The Dalmore 35 Year Old ($6,000 per 750 ml bottle)

The Dalmore 35 is derived from three wood profiles which include a distillery run Bourbon barrel, a Matusalem sherry butt, and a Port Colheita pipe, each coming together to deliver a rich and memorable liquid. At 40% ABV, the liquid boasts aromas of Crushed almonds and coffee mousse, with Dark treacle cake, freshly ground Java coffee, and banana bread on the palate.

The Dalmore 40 Year Old ($8,800 per 750 ml bottle)

This rare bottling was initially matured in American white oak ex-Bourbon barrels before being transferred into 30-year-old Gonzalez Byass Matsualem oloroso sherry butts and finally finished in first-fill bourbon barrels. Retained at 42% ABV, the resulting liquid is a luscious and complex expression, offering a multitude of aromas including Columbian coffee and marmalade with gingerbread and honey on the palate.

The Dalmore 45 Year Old ($14,600 per 750 ml bottle)

Initially matured in American white oak ex-bourbon casks,  the liquid is then transferred into two different Vintage Graham’s Port Colheita pipes before being married together in first-fill American white oak ex-bourbon for its final flourish. Purposefully retained at 40% ABV, The Dalmore 45 features exquisite flavors of red berries, soft licorice, crushed hazelnuts, bitter chocolate, and Manuka honey.
