About Speyside
The Speyside region surrounds the River Spey in the North East of Scotland. It is technically a subregion of the Highlands but due to the sheer amount of distilleries in the area it is classed as region of its own. The Speyside region plays host to more than 60 distilleries at present, and accounts for 60% of all whisky produced in Scotland. Speyside is famous for sweet single malts with little to no peat present, therefore make for great entry level malts.
There are major, world renowned brands from Speyside such as The Macallan, Glenlivet and Glenfiddich. These three distilleries are loved around globe and are responsible for 1/3rd of all single malt in the worldwide market.
