About Islay
The Islay region is an island off the west coast of mainland Scotland and is pronounced ‘Eye-luh’. It is the smallest whisky region if based on land mass however, it plays host to 8 distilleries with more planned. It is believed that whisky distillation reached Scotland from Ireland in the 13th century via the island of Islay.
The region is known for its peaty single malts with 3 world famous brands coming from Islay. They are Ardbeg, Laphroaig and Lagavulin.
