Over the years, the distillery was mainly functioning to create spirit for blends, most notably for Chivas Brothers throughout the 1990s until its sale in 2017 to a consortium of buyers called The GlenAllachie Distillers Company led by Billy Walker, the former owner of BenRiach and GlenDronach and famed for his ability to revive distilleries.
Today GlenAllachie produces nearly one million litres of spirit per annum, with a growing focus on maturing malts for the increasing numbers of single malt releases which the Walker stable of distilleries have been known for.
The Glenallachie mainly produces whisky for blends but there are some exceptions. In 2018 under the new owners, a core range was released. A 10, 12, 18 and 25 year old as well as other single casks. The distillery has also been bottling a 16 year old cask strength malt since 2005 as well as an 18 since 2008.
