About Highland Park Distillery
The distillery is still active and is now owned by The Edrington Group. The current capacity is 2,500,000 litres and its’ water source is the Cattie Maggie’s Spring.
The Highland Park distillery is the most northerly distillery in Scotland. Despite being named ‘Highland Park’ the distillery is not located in the Highlands region, but rather got its name from the location in the Island region known as ‘High Park’. Not only is Highland Park one of the ingredients in The Famous Grouse, they also have fantastic whiskies of their own. In 1984 a national newspaper called The Scotsman rated their whisky 100%, the first ever whisky to receive this score. Renowned whisky reviewer Michael Jackson has also been quoted saying that Highland Park is the greatest all-rounder malt in the world.
