About Glenfarclas Distillery
The distillery is still active and is owned by J. & G. Grant. The current capacity is 3,000,000 litres and its’ water source is from the Ben Rinnes mountain.
There is some evidence that shows the distillery was initially founded around 1791 when it was most likely distilling illicitly. In 1865 John Grant purchased the distillery and it is still in the hands of his descendants. The distillery has 6 stills which are the biggest you can find in the Speyside region however only 4 are used at once. The stills remain directly heated by gas burners.
